Twittering the debate

As with the Vice-Presidential debate last week, I’ll be twittering about today’s Presidential debate live.

  1. Sorry, but may I ask who is reading that stuff at all? Still not convinced of that concept…
You should rather write a nice analysis of the ‘debate’ here… 😉

  2. Well, at the moment virtually nobody but you and a few Web 2.0 enthusiasts I know read this. But it’s not like this cost me any effort at all. I was having an IM conversation with a friend of mine and basically just mirrored my snarky comments on Twitter. Which is also why I wouldn’t want to write a review: the format and purpose is entirely different. Short, quickfire, snarky comments on the one side and something a lot more serious and contemplative on the other.

But to be honest, I’m not bothered that noone but a few are following me on Twitter. The thing simply has not taken off here yet. Things are very, very different in the US where this kind of thing is at about the same stage as blogging was in 2001. Maybe I’ll look mighty stupid 2-3 years from now for having jumped on this bandwagon, but my guess would be that services like Twitter will be completely mainstream by that time. Just look at how many people are using Facebook status updates.
