Vive la Blogotheque!

I think I discovered La Blogotheque back when they recorded the Shins playing some of their songs while promenading through the Montmartre in Paris. Little did I know that that wasn’t the only cool acoustic session available there. I just rediscovered the site via an equally good session with the Fleet Foxes at the Grand Palais, the band that I was so impressed with at the Rockpalast Festival last week. Indeed, it seems to be a little treasure trove for intimate recordings of some of my favorite artists: There’s a session on a boat with the Wombats, one with Beirut’s drummer using trash cans for percussions, one with José Gonzalez in a large, echoey room that really enhances his music, there’s Thomas Dybdahl, Lykke Li, Vampire Weekend, an ancient session with Okkervil River and loads, loads more.

And the best part: You’re free to telecharge download every one of the sessions in whatever format pleases you, a move that I can only chalk up to Socialist ideas still being alive and well in the Grande Nation.
